The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics catalyzed the transformation of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway into an underground passageway, spanning approximately 6 kilometers from the south of Xueyuan South Road to the North Fifth Ring Road. This transition accentuates the challenges posed by the space beneath the parallel subway line viaduct. However, the development presents a unique opportunity to seamlessly connect the once-divided urban land through the creation of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway Site Park system. This article focuses on the former Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway site and the linear space along the Wudaokou to Dazhongsi section of Beijing's No.13 Metro Line as its research subject. Based on the overall plan of Beijing and the zoning plan of Haidian District, the research aim to expedite the realization of the site park. The establishment of this park is envisioned to enhance spatial arrangement, fortify regional connections, and craft captivating locales that enhance the well-being of its inhabitants. Consequently, leveraging the inherent strengths of site resources to invigorate communities, enhance the accessibility of green spaces within residential recreational parks, foster social connections, elevate underutilized spaces, and attain fully open and varied living environments has emerged as a pivotal area of exploration. The research structure of this paper is divided into three levels: macro, medium, and micro. At the macro level, the emphasis is on examining the comprehensive value of scientific research sites as heritage parks, with their spatial value taking center stage. This entails a systematic comprehension of the issues present at the site on a mesoscale, paying homage to the historical and cultural essence of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway and its prospective role in the future urban tapestry. Planning and solution strategies are proposed to address these concerns. The micro-level involves generating zoning design schemes tailored to the unique characteristics and resource endowments of each area. By integrating the material legacy and philosophical underpinnings of historically significant industrial sites into modern landscape design as distinctive landscape resources, the study achieves a dual significance: activating urban spaces and re-evaluating industrial heritage culture. Through a nuanced analysis of the site environment's attributes and the needs of the surrounding community, the paper suggests design strategies rooted in social-spatial interaction. This approach effectively amplifies the social functionality and cultural worth of the site while cultivating a stronger sense of identification and belonging among local residents toward the park. Ultimately, this paradigm contributes to the sustainable development of the railway heritage park and offers a viable template for contemporary regional landscape design infused with historical context.
