传统工艺是一个民族的文化符号和审美习惯的重要载体,也是全人类共同的文化财富。随着时代的变迁,传统工艺需要与时俱进、融入创新,以实现振兴与可持续发展。当今信息时代,研究者们开始将数字技术与传统工艺进行物理层面的跨界融合,使传统工艺能够迸发新的生命力并走进大众的视野。传统工艺的数字化创新存在着“真实性”挑战,即存在着创新过程中,丢失传统工艺的核心技艺特征、优秀文化内涵等核心属性的问题。学界对应对该挑战的共识是“守正创新”,即在守住核心技艺和文化内涵的基础上进行合理适度的创新。然而,当前的研究在守正创新的价值共识与具体的创新实践之间,缺乏能够指导具体实践的设计方法。因此,在设计研究的角度,“如何使用数字技术赋能传统工艺的创新,并兼顾其文化真实性的传承”的问题还有待探索。本文首先对工艺融合科技的跨界创新案例进行了系统的梳理归纳。基于对结果的分析和反思,提出了传统工艺数字化创新设计模型——CAT模型。CAT模型是构想(Concept)、作品(Artwork)、工具(Toolkit)的英文首字母缩写。该模型的核心理念是“以传统工艺为核心、数字技术为支撑”,包含两阶段、三要素以及四条创新路径。CAT模型能指导设计者通过文化考察来明确传统工艺的核心文化属性,结合数字技术调研的结果,在尊重真实性的基础上提出创新设计构想。接着,本模型还能指导设计者通过跨学科共同创作的方式将构想落地实施,并以创作新作品、构建能将创新普及化的创作工具作为目标产出。本文将CAT模型运用在处于不同数字化创新阶段的三个工艺门类中,分别是基本没有数字化创新探索的毛猴工艺、有一定数字化创新探索的中国画、有着丰富数字化创新探索的编织工艺,并产出了五项兼顾传承与创新的成果。CAT模型在多样工艺类型上的成功运用,也显示了其在指导实践方面的适应与变通。最后,基于对全部研究内容的回顾与反思,本文从理论层面提出了V-I-P三层次设计逻辑。VIP是价值判断(Value)、物的创新(Innovation)、人的参与(People)英文首字母缩写。本文还从实践层面总结了设计研究在本课题中起到的作用、在技术使用层面反思了数字技术融入传统工艺创新中的优势与挑战。本文希望以此为开端,尝试在融入科技的同时保留优秀传统文化的内核与“手工的温度”,探索信息时代下具有中国特色的新传统工艺创新道路。
Traditional crafts are important carriers of a nation‘s cultural symbols and aesthetic habits, as well as a shared cultural heritage of all humanity. With the changes of the times, traditional crafts need to keep up with the times and integrate innovation to achieve revitalization and sustainable development. In the current information age, researchers have begun to integrate digital technology with traditional crafts at the physical level, enabling them to burst with new vitality and enter the public eye.The digital innovation of traditional crafts faces an ``authenticity" challenge, which refers to the problem of losing core technical features and excellent cultural connotations during the innovation process. The consensus in academia for addressing this challenge is ``preserving the essence while innovating," that is, conducting reasonable and moderate innovation on the basis of preserving core technical skills and cultural connotations. However, current research lacks design methods that can guide specific practices between the value consensus of preserving the essence while innovating and actual innovation practices. Therefore, from the perspective of design research, there is still a need to explore the question of ``how to use digital technology to empower the innovation of traditional crafts while also taking into account the cultural authenticity of their inheritance."Facing the research issues mentioned above, this paper first systematically summarizes and concludes cross-border innovation cases in traditional crafts that have integrated technology. Based on the analysis and reflection of the results, a digital innovation design model for traditional crafts called the CAT model is proposed. The CAT model is an acronym for the English words Concept, Artwork, and Toolkit. The core concept of the CAT model is ``Traditional craftsmanship as the core and digital technology as support," which includes two stages, three elements, and four innovative paths. The CAT model can guide practitioners in clarifying the cultural attributes of traditional crafts through cultural investigation, combine the results of digital technology research, and propose innovative ideas grounded in authenticity. The model can also guide practitioners in implementing the ideas through interdisciplinary co-creation, aiming at producing new works and creative tools that can popularize innovation.This paper applies the CAT model to three different craft categories at different stages of digital innovation: the Hairy Monkey handicraft, which has little digital innovation exploration; Chinese painting, which has some digital innovation exploration; and the weaving craft, which has rich digital innovation exploration, resulting in five achievements that balance inheritance and innovation. The successful application of the CAT model in various types of crafts also demonstrates its adaptability and flexibility in guiding practice.Finally, based on a review and reflection of all research content, this paper proposes a three-level design logic, namely VIP, which stands for Value, Innovation, and People, at the theoretical level. Additionally, this paper summarizes the role of design research in this project from a practical perspective, and reflects on the advantages and challenges of integrating digital technology into traditional craftsmanship innovation at the technical level. This paper hopes to serve as a starting point to try to preserve the core of excellent traditional culture and the ``warm from hands-on practice" while integrating technology, and to explore the innovation of new traditional crafts with Chinese characteristics in the information age.
