德化位于福建省中部,隶属福建省泉州市。德化窑始烧于商周,宋元逐渐兴盛,明清时期德化白瓷享誉国际,被誉为“中国白”,清末民国时期德化制瓷业衰微。新中国成立后,德化制瓷业在计划经济体制下得以复兴。随着改革开放和经济全球化,德化成为21世纪中国重要的陶瓷出口产区。德化是典型的以瓷业兴城的地区,全县近1/3的人口都在从事瓷业或相关行业,在德化形成了传统手工瓷塑艺术和工业化陶瓷生产并存的格局。 本文以当代德化陶瓷产区为研究对象,基于实地调研资料和相关文献,从艺术社会学角度深入考察德化传统手工陶瓷的生产、传播和消费各环节,并将影响德化陶瓷产业发展的长期因素概括为:自然地理条件、生产力进步、生产关系变化、地域文化特征、版权保护法治体系的建立,构成了对德化陶瓷产区空间和时间视角的全景式观察。在此基础上,论文重点审视了德化传统陶瓷艺术的活态传承发展:从传统瓷塑艺术的社会性角度,着眼于经典艺术人物形象的确立,通过剖析其中蕴含的社会建构和艺术标准的确立、分析艺术评价体系的作用,对德化陶瓷产区艺术样貌的形成、对继承传统和创新发展提出了新观点;梳理和归纳了当代德化陶瓷产区的传播体系,揭示出其中隐含的社会关系和艺术观念,并从对传播体系的现状和趋势的讨论中,进一步激发了传播对于艺术发展影响的思考;以宏观和微观的视角观察并阐述了德化陶瓷的消费现状,通过对消费者、消费动机、价格的讨论与分析,展现了消费者对于艺术的认知具有社会特征,并且在塑造艺术作品意义方面起到了重要作用,揭示出艺术消费中意义系统的形成,及其中的社会和艺术观念,对带有中国特色的艺术发展模式与规律进行了概括性总结。 本研究既关注外在社会因素,也聚焦艺术内在因素;既有对群体的讨论,也有对个体的分析;把握普遍规律的同时,强调艺术的独特性和创造性。本文将艺术社会学视角引入德化陶瓷产区研究,见前人所未见,一方面为德化陶瓷产业进一步发展提供了理论支撑,另一方面也拓宽了艺术社会学研究视野,在中国式现代化语境中,丰富了艺术社会学研究方法。
Situated in the central part of Fujian Province, Dehua belongs to Quanzhou City of Fujian Province. The firing of Dehua ceramics started in the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, and gradually flourished in the Song and Yuan Dynasties. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Dehua white porcelain was internationally renowned as “Blanc de Chine”, while in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, the ceramic manufacturing industry in Dehua slightly declined. After the founding of New China, Dehua ceramic industry was revived under the planned economics system. With the implement of reform and opening-up policy and China’s deep participation in economic globalization, Dehua has become an important production area of ceramics for export in China in the 21st century and it is a typical area that greatly relies on ceramic industry, now nearly one-third of the population of the county is engaged in ceramic industry or related industries. And a coexistence pattern of hand-making of traditional ceramic sculptures and industrial ceramic production has formed in Dehua. This dissertation takes the production area of Dehua ceramics in the contemporary era as the object of study; deeply examines the links of production, communication, and consumption of Dehua traditional handmade ceramics from the perspective of the sociology of art based on field research materials and related literature; and summarizes long-term factors affecting the development of the industry of Dehua ceramics as physical geography conditions, progress in productivity, changes in production relations, regional cultural characteristics, and the establishment of the system of rule of law for copyright protection, constituting a panoramic observation of the spatial and temporal perspectives of the production area of Dehua ceramics. On this basis, this dissertation focuses on the examination of the active inheritance and development of traditional ceramic art in Dehua. From the perspective of the sociality of traditional ceramic sculpture art, the building of the classical artistic figure image was focused on. By analyzing the essence of social construction, the establishment of artistic criteria and analyzing the effect of the art evaluation system, new perspectives were proposed for the formation of the artistic appearance in the production area of Dehua ceramics, inheritance of tradition, and innovative development; the communication system of the production area of Dehua ceramics in the contemporary era was summarized and the implicit social relations and artistic concepts were revealed, and from the discussion of the current situation and trends of the communication system, further stimulated the thinking of the impact of communication on the development of art; the current condition of consumption of Dehua ceramics were observed and explained from both macroscopic and microcosmic perspectives, the formation of the meaning system in art consumption and the social and artistic concepts in it was shown through discussion and analysis of consumer groups, motivations, and prices, showing that consumers’ understanding of art had social characteristics and played an important role in shaping the meaning of artistic works, and revealing the formation of the meaning system in art consumption, as well as the social and artistic concepts involved, and the model and rules of development of art with Chinese characteristics were summarized. This study not only focuses on the macroscopic external factors of the society, but also investigate the microscopic internal factors of the art circle, which is both the discussion of the group and the analysis of the individual, as well as arriving at the general laws and emphasizing the uniqueness and creativity of art. This dissertation introduces the perspective of art sociology into the study of Dehua ceramic production area, which is unprecedented. On the one hand, it provides theoretical support for the further development of Dehua ceramic industry, on the other hand, it also broadens the research vision of art sociology, and enriches the research methods of art sociology in the context of Chinese path to modernization.
