Ouyuan, a private garden in Qingzhou, was built between 1669 to 1670 by the Grand Secretary Feng Pu. Ouyuan was built on the basis of the Heng Palace’s Qisong Garden and Feng Pu’s old garden. With a profound history and a serene scene, it became a precious relic of the traditional literati gardens in northern China. After the orderly inheritance of Feng Pu descendants, the garden was nationalized after the founding of the People's Republic and became a cultural relic protection unit.Through the study of the Ouyuan, the author actually aims to explore the study of ancient Chinese literati gardens. By using the methods of architectural history, art history and literature history, this thesis makes a systematic study of this garden for the first time. There are two clues in this thesis: "external research" and "internal research”. For external aspects, This thesis studied the creator of the garden, historical changes, and related social and cultural background. For Internal aspects, This thesis made a thorough on-site survey with the technique of laser mapping. The aim is to record its heritage information in detail. Lastly, combined with historical documents, this thesis carries out the imagination restoration of the historical scene of Ouyuan.
