This paper, focus on the spatial pattern and use state, takes the Forbidden City of Wanli Dynasty in Ming Dynasty as the research object, takes the existing sites, relevant historical books and image data as the materials, and comprehensively uses the historical research methods such as textual research, measurement and visualization. From the second chapter to the fourth chapter, the paper combs the existing literature and image data in detail, and examines the omissions and mistakes of the previous scholars' relevant research results. Finally, it puts forward the possible plane layout of the Forbidden City in the Wanli Dynasty of the Ming Dynasty. From the fifth chapter to the eighth chapter, this paper makes statistics on the space activities of the Forbidden City in the literature, clarifies the use status of the Forbidden City in each stage, and analyzes the relationship between the use and the building. This paper draws the following important conclusions at least: 1. Qianqing Gate, Baoshan Gate and Sishan Gate are the internal and external space boundary nodes of the Forbidden City; 2. From the perspective of the use frequency as the actual utility function, Huangji Hall is the formal center of the Forbidden City, The emperor's residence (Heart Nourishing Hall, Yude Palace, Qixiang Palace, etc.) is the decision-making center, and the Wenhua Hall has undertaken the main function of discussing politics; 3. The space of the Forbidden City is mainly used to meet the needs of etiquette activities, and there is no special design for the national administrative office; 4. Besides the formal axis, there is a far-reaching daily function axis; 5. The eunuch controls the information communication between the emperor Shenzong and the civil service group in terms of system and space. 6. The Forbidden City experience of emperor Shenzong and civil service group are quite different. 7. Buildings can only form physical barriers, the order of architectural space depends on the power system behind it.
