闽粤台开元寺建筑装饰艺术是中国南方区域建筑文化的重要组成部分,蕴藏着深厚的中国传统宗教信仰、民间文化因素和艺术美学思想。根据田野调查发现,现存闽粤台地区开元寺共有5处,其中,漳州开元寺在同治三年(公元1864年)已化为灰烬,无实体建筑可资研究;保存较完整且较具影响力的存有4处,尤以泉州开元寺为现存规模最大、最古老之佛寺。泉州开元寺为全国文物保护单位,其建筑装饰艺术文化与台湾台南开元寺有密切关联。在研究方法和内容层面,本研究以闽粤台开元寺建筑装饰工艺为研究对象,旨在通过历史文献、田野考察、访谈、图像学等方法,深入考察与研究闽粤台开元寺建筑装饰的工艺与文化特色,集中透视闽粤台开元寺建筑在嵌瓷、雕刻、交趾陶、泥塑、彩绘等装饰艺术的表现形式与技艺特色,兼及分析闽粤台之间的建筑装饰文化的互动与借鉴,以期对宗教古建筑装饰技艺的更好的传承与保护。在研究路径层面,本研究以闽粤台开元寺建筑装饰工艺为中心,紧密围绕历史层、艺术层、技术层和传承层展开论述,首先对探讨闽粤台开元寺的历史源流及其传统技艺传承史;然后分析闽粤台开元寺建筑装饰艺术的表现形式与核心技艺;进而分析闽粤台开元寺建筑装饰艺术的题材内涵与文化表征;再分析闽粤台开元寺建筑装饰的艺术风格及其美学特色;最后探讨闽粤台开元寺建筑装饰的艺术价值与当代传承问题。研究结果显示:闽粤台开元寺传统建筑装饰艺术的语言、风格、形态、技法等范式、文化资源样态在承袭中发展;当代新经济发展以及传统建筑匠师们同行相忌所致后继乏人的隐忧;传统中国宗教建筑装饰艺术体系性文化亟待传承与保护。本研究有助于扩大两岸传统宗教建筑装饰文化研究视角,增补传统中国传统建筑艺术研究珍贵材料与内容,有利于建构闽粤台建筑装饰艺术文化互动体系,对传承与保护传统古建筑彩画技艺也具有重大价值。
The decorative art of Kai Yuan temples in Fujian, Guangdong and Taiwan is an important part of the architectural culture of southern China. It consists of the elements of traditional Chinese religious beliefs, folk cultural factors and artistic aesthetics. According to field research, there were five Kai Yuan temples in Fujian, Guangdong and Taiwan. However, the Kai Yuan temple in Zhang Zhou was destroyed in the third year of Tongzhi (1864). The site is no longer available for research. The remaining four historical sites are currently well-preserved and still have high impacts in the local area. Especially, the Kai Yuan temple in Quan Zhou is considered as the oldest Buddhist temple with the largest site scale in China, which is also a national cultural relics protection site. Its architectural decoration art has a great influence on the Kai Yuan temple in Tainan, Taiwan.This study takes the architecture of the Kai Yuan temples in Fujian, Guangdong and Taiwan as the research subject. The objectives of the study are to investigate the architectural decorative art and cultural features at the four Kai Yuan temples through literature review, field research, interview, and methodologies of art research such as imaging method, and to compare the decorative designs, skills and techniques and their cultural characteristics, including the art of inlay decoration, sculpture, ochin ceramic, clay sculpture and painting at the four sites. The similarity as well as the influence in the architectural decorative art among the four sites are discussed. This study aims to facilitate preservation and protection of the architectural art and decorative techniques of ancient religious architecture. This study discusses the architectural decorative art of the Kai Yuan temples in Fujian, Guangdong and Taiwan in different aspects, including historical, artistic, technical and heritage perspectives. Firstly, the background and history of the Kai Yuan temples and the traditional cultural art inherits from the past are described. Then, the core techniques of the architectural art and their forms and characteristics are summarized. Moreover, the themes of the creative art at the Kai Tuan temples and their cultural features are assessed. Also, the artistic styles and aesthetic characteristics of the Kai Yuan temples are analyzed. Finally, the artistic value of architectural decorative art at the Kai Yuan temples in Fujian, Guangdong and Taiwan and its influence in the contemporary era are discussed.Our findings reveal that the inherited traditional cultural architecture art preserved at the Kai Yuan temples in Fujian, Guangdong and Taiwan continues developing in terms of art languages, styles, forms, skills and techniques. However, the issue of cutthroat competition among the artists might negatively affect preservation of the traditional art. Traditional Chinese religious architecture decorative art requires efforts to be protected and preserved now. This study not only helps to broaden the viewpoints to the traditional architectural decoration art, but also provides precious research materials for further study. It might be useful to help to construct a systematical mechanism in developing the cultural architectural decoration art in Fujian, Guangdong and Taiwan in the future, which is certainly of importance for protecting and preserving the ancient architectural decorative art and painting techniques.
