As one of the most thriving and prosperous periods of ancient Chinese female literature, the world of lady poetesses during Daoguang period in Qing Dynasty consists of three parts: lady poetesses residing in Beijing from Jiangnan during Qianlong and Jiaqing periods, such as Pan Suxin and Yun Zhu; lady poetesses from Manchu and Han nationalities in the middle period in Daoguang reign, such as Zhang Qiying, Xilin Chun and Shen Shanbao; Manchu and Mongolian lady poetesses in the late Daoguang period, such as Naxunlanbao, Baibao and Miaolianbao. These lady poetesses came from different nationalites and lived from Qianlong during late Daoguang periods, and compiled general collection of literature and literary criticism, such as Guochao Guixiu Zhengshiji and Mingyuan Shihua. This paper shows, by research chronically on the works of lady poetesses, they started writing from Jiangnan to Beijing since late Qianlong period, and then formed dual-centers, Beijing-Hangzhou during Daoguang period. Different from female writers in the past, lady poetesses during this period demonstrated the tendency of cultural fusion of Man, Mongolian and Han nationalities, and the self-construction of poetic history of Eight Banners of Manchu. Re-examination on the world of lady poetesses in Daoguang period from the perspective of “poetry as a means of social intercourse” helps re-interpret this ancient poetic idea. Based on the initial bond of female intellects which arose from kinship and geo-relationship, together with kinship-like relationship, responsory in poetry societies and agreement to live in seclusion, lady poetesses developed an intertwined poetry world. By this way, lady poetesses reconstructed family power order and gained social capital in the name of poetry. Meanwhile, the virtual world of letters endowed lady poetesses with an imaginary public space and an social role as a poet.
