本文从政治和民族两个方面入手，以安史之乱为主线，研究河北胡化的形成、发展和影响。河北胡化以安史之乱的爆发为界点，分为幽营胡化和恒魏胡化两个阶段。随着第二突厥汗国的东扩和契丹、奚威胁的加剧，唐朝东北边疆逐渐形成以营州为中心的胡人群体，特点是杂胡群居和政治导向。随着玄宗朝后期幽营军事结构的调整，以粟特人为代表的营州杂胡逐渐占据东北军事主体，成为安史之乱爆发的重要原因和主要力量。安史之乱爆发后，由于军镇势力的长期发育、平卢藩镇的南下归唐，以恒魏两州为中心的河北道南部开始了胡化进程，并随着叛乱的平定和河朔的独立而得以稳定。唐朝在安史之乱及前后的政治决策，对河北胡化产生的深远影响。天宝党争导致北方蕃将势力的普遍崛起，促进了幽营两州的胡化和安禄山的崛起。肃宗即位之初出于宫廷内斗和确立法统的考虑，使唐朝中央在事实上放弃了北线进攻范阳的战略方针。平叛战争中河北土团势力南撤、河东实权派军阀的敌对、江淮的坚决抵抗，都对河北胡化的范围产生了限定作用。而平叛之际唐朝中央为了抑制地方藩镇的发展而绥抚安史降将，促成了河北胡化局面的完成。安禄山没有明显的粟特血统，他的粟特属性来自于后天随母依附安氏家族后所产生的强烈身份认同感。安禄山属于营州杂胡，与代居六胡州的安氏家族不是一个群体。营州胡在叛乱爆发后，由于与内附河东的突厥部族、铁勒诸部关系不睦，使得河北与河东对立关系明显，一定程度上加剧了河北的孤立。燕政权的职官结构和人员组成中，文官体系多来自于叛乱爆发前的幕僚和降燕官员，只有武将中才有较多的营州胡。安禄山对于唐制沿袭较多，而史思明对燕政权进行了改革，以重要州郡为中心设立了节度使，这种体制上的变动对于河朔藩镇格局的形成具有深远影响。经过历次政治内斗，燕政权中最初随安禄山南下的营州胡已不占据主要比重，它的胡化特征更多来自于其体制的影响。总之，安史之乱从政治和民族两个方面对河北胡化产生了影响，河北胡化不仅是民族问题，更是政治斗争的产物。
