摘要

马克?坦西是美国当代著名艺术家,他的油画因其单色调、写实性和逼真的细节与其他同时代画家判然有别,并且以在画面中将图像与观念相结合而著称。尽管马克?坦西在西方艺术史中占有重要位置,并且对中国当代油画的创作也产生了一定影响,但是无论在西方还是国内,对马克?坦西绘画的研究皆不够充分,尤其表现在对其20世纪90年代以后的作品的研究上。有鉴于此,本文的研究将包括三个方面:首先将从马克?坦西的绘画作品入手,对所有作品按时间顺序分期,分别对每一时期的作品进行解读并挖掘其背后的思想内涵;继而总结出马克?坦西绘画的特点;最后将马克?坦西的绘画放入后现代主义文化的大背景中,进行更为深刻的剖析。文本以马克?坦西的绘画作品为研究对象,时间跨度从20世纪80年代至今,空间范围为美国本土。文本的研究立足于马克?坦西绘画本身,笔者与马克?坦西进行了深入的访谈,观摩了大量作品,包括未公开展出的作品,收集了大量一手资料,如私人信件、博物馆档案等等。本文对马克坦西的绘画进行了分期,并对每一时期的作品进行具体分析,对其绘画发展流变的脉络进行了梳理,总结了其绘画的技法和特点。通过对马克?坦西绘画的具体分析,探究其绘画背后的思想根源。笔者认为马克?坦西并非是一个写实画家,而是一个思想画家,他的绘画反映的并不是现实世界,而是他对艺术史、哲学、科学理论的思考。最后本文将马克?坦西的作品置于后现代主义文化的背景中,对其绘画中的思想与后现代主义文化的关系进行了探究。笔者认为马克?坦西的绘画反映了后现代主义时期文化的多元性、非线性发展以及跨学科发展的特征。他广阔的视野、对时代的敏感、自我革新的精神以及在绘画中传达深刻思想的能力值得中国艺术家借鉴。

This paper represents a study of a famous American painter Mark Tansey. His paintings distinguish from other artists of his contemporaries with its monochrome, realistic style and vivid details. And his painting is also known for bringing idea into image. Although Mark Tansey occupies an important position in western art history and has an influence on contemporary Chinese oil painting, the research on Mark Tansey’s paintings is not enough, especially for his works after 1990s. In order to fully understand Mark Tansey’s painting and clarify misunderstanding, thesis consists of three sections. The first section is an analysis resulting from close observation of the original works, the second is a discussion about ideological roots of his paintings and the third is the relationship between Mark Tansey’s painting and postmodernism culture.This thesis focuses on Mark Tansey’s paintings form 1980s until now; based on both direct observation of the original works and interviews with the artist and experts in the field, this thesis rediscovers the features and the methods of Mark Tansey’s painting. Through the concrete analysis of his paintings, this thesis makes an argument that Mark Tansey is not a realist painter, but more like a painter with profound thingking. This thesis proposes a revaluation of the historical value and position of Mark Tansey’s painting. The last section of this thesis points out, that there is a strong connection between Mark Tansey’s painting and postmodernism culture. Mark Tansey’s paingitng represented the characteristics of postmodernism culture which is diversity, nonlinear development and interdisciplinary. Mark Tansey’s broad perspective, sensitivity to the era, the spirit of self innovation and the ablitity to convey deep thoughts through painting is worth Chinese artists learning.
